Are You Bored?
photo by foureyes“I’m bored.” This is a phrase that I hear nearly everyday. It just doesn’t make sense to me. If you’re bored, find something to do. No one told you to be bored. You chose it!
So… here’s a list of things to help you cure you “boredom”:
1. Read a book - I know a lot of people that would say reading a book is boring. But really, if you find a good book, you’ll love it and read for hours. Trust me! Pick one up right now if you don’t believe me and you’ll see. It can be quite entertaining.
2. Exercise - Exercise can be fun, you just have to make it fun. Quit calling it “working out,” because that indicates that you are “working,” but really exercise can be fun. If you are overweight and don’t want to be overweight, instead of being bored in front of a television screen, get up and exercise.
3. Cook - Many times, boredom can lead to hunger. You have nothing else to do so you just eat. Instead of popping something into the microwave, cook something that may take a while. Find an old recipe book and cook away.
4. Talk - Honestly, when I’m just relaxing and chatting with my friends, I’m never bored. But whenever I’m in these situations, my friends constantly, “Lets do something, I’m bored.” But for me, talking isn’t boring and the only way it would be is if I tell myself it is. So, call someone up or invite them over to your place and just talk.
5. Draw - When is the last time you picked up a pad of paper and some markers? Start scribbling. Create a masterpiece. Personally, I believe anyone can make art, you just have to find what your good at. I can draw trees and still life pretty well, but people and animals are very difficult for me.
6. Write - Write a journal. Keeping a journal helps to organize your thoughts and keep track of what you did that day. Write a story. You must have a creative idea somewhere underneath that skull of yours. Write a poem. Oh and there’s no need to type it. Turn off your PC and write with a pen or pencil.
7. Hike - Personally, I would choose a day of hiking over a day at an amusement park. Enjoy nature and get some good exercise at the same time.
In conclusion, you don’t EVER need to be bored. You choose to be bored. And you can choose to not be bored just as easily. Each activity I mentioned had nothing to do with computers or television. So, turn off you TV, your PC, your videogame system, and Go! do something.
Any other ideas for curing boredom?

Into the Wild
I’m a voracious reader and I’ll always find something to read! Books are my favorite choice (the story behind my thick glasses!)
I totally agree with you!
people put themselves in everything
from boredom to depression!
8. Drive Around!
Thats soo much fun! just music, you and a car! weeeeee
9.Re-decorate the room!
as in move it around, be creative.
10.Go to caribou coffee.
11. BIKE! or go to spinning class ( AMAZING )
12. Do Dares
13. Start a business
14. STRETCH!
15: Build a tree-fort or blanket fort. Feed the imagination of a five-year-old. When was the last time you were king in your own blanket castle.
16: Go Canoeing. Or boating of any sort, really. But I rather like Solo Canoeing.
17: Explore something.
18: If you really need that PC connection, WIKI something. I lose whole days by starting at wikipedia.org, and just link hopping my way through oblivion. I never knew there was such a thing as a kite powered carriage? You never know what you might learn.
19: Start a business. If you have enough time on your hands to be bored, you certainly have enough time to start doing something you love for profit.
20: Meditate. If you’re bored and restless, focus on clearing your mind, you never know what that could lead to.
Now get out there and DO SOMETHING!

Joel - Books are great!
Blue Dress - You’ve got some good ones here. Changing the room around does wonders for your mind and creativity. And stretching of course is amazing.
Gregory - A blanket fort! I remember those things! Neat idea. About that wikipedia link hopping through oblivion. I’ve done a lot of that lately. Good stuff.
Thanks,
Zack
